Hello and welcome back to another blog post! I love the Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Flowers stamp set, and I thought that it called for a messy watercolor technique. I am so sorry that I have been away for so long-the back to school season and final details of wedding planning (we are getting married in late September) have gotten the better of me! I am so happy to be back sharing with all of you.
To watch me make these cards in detail, please watch the video below!
At this point, we have all seen quite a few variations of this stamp set on cards, but I think it goes to show how versatile it is. I wanted to try a messy watercolor card using this stamp set. I rarely color out of the lines—it goes against my type A personality. But, I thought it would be pretty on this stamp set. I used the gem watercolor palette, one of my favorites.
I started by stamping with Versafine Onyx Black, and added clear embossing powder overtop and heat set it until shiny. Once that had cooled down, I put down lots of color, and then sprayed the entire piece with water from a distress sprayer. That wasn’t quite enough, so I did use a brush to move to color around.
Once that was totally dry, I cut down the panel and adhered it onto a piece of lovely lavender card stock by Gina K Designs. I heat embossed the sentiment “you are loved” onto a piece of scrap card stock and cut it down to sit on the front. I finished off the card with Nuvo drops.
I can’t wait to use this stamp set again. Many of us only use a stamp set once or twice, but this one is so gorgeous that I can see myself using it over and over again. Do you have any stamp sets like that? If so, I would love to hear about them in the comments below!
