Hello and welcome back to another blog post! This post marks the third installment in my Christmas in July series, which features a one layer card.
To watch me make these cards in detail, please watch the video below!
It is rare that I make a one layer card, but I know that when we are in the full swing of holiday cards, making a one layer card speeds up the process. In fact, it only took me 20 minutes to make this card start to finish.
I started by drawing a small circle on the card to serve as the wreath form. Then, I stamped out the medium size pine branch from the Lawn Fawn Deck the Halls stamp set onto Lawn Fawn Vanilla Malt cardstock. All of the inks that I used (except the VersaMark ink) are from Gina K Designs. They are my favorite inks to use on my projects. While stamping the first image, I left plenty of spaces around the wreath to fill in additional branches with the second green color. Stamping with two colors adds a lot of definition to the wreath and really makes it come to life.
Once the wreath was complete, I embossed the sentiment with Wow! Rich Pale Gold embossing powder. This really makes the card come to life. The card is finished off with a bow tied at the top of the wreath with Lawn Fawn Gold Sparkle Lawn Trimmings.
A note about the bow: if it bothers you to see the back of the cord on the inside of the card, don’t make this as a one layer card. For me, it makes the card look more homemade. I think sometimes we strive for perfection, and the recipient doesn’t even realize the card is made by you!
Thanks for joining me again for this series! The supplies are all listed below. To see the last card I made in this series, click here.
